TORINO, Italy (AP) -- Mao Asada has won her second title at the World Figure Skating Championships, while Olympic champion Kim Yu-na fought back from a disastrous short to take the silver medal Saturday.
Asada, who also won the title in 2008, finished with 197.58 points, almost seven in front of Kim. Laura Lepisto took bronze, Finland¥"s first medal at worlds.
American Mirai Nagasu led after the short program but botched four of her jumps and dropped to seventh.
Kim has dominated the sport the last two seasons, losing just one competition. But the South Korean had an uncharacteristically bad outing in the short, missing elements that are usually automatic. Her free skate Saturday was more like it -- she had the top score of the day -- though far from her majestic best. She started strong, but fell on a triple salchow and popped her final double axel.
She scored 130.49 points, nearly 20 points behind her Olympic performance, for a total of 190.79.
