【휴스턴=꽃송이양우】미 바이덴 정권은 유럽에 액화천연가스(LNG)를 융통할 수 있을까 아시아의 주요한 수입국에 타진했다.일본이나 중국, 한국, 인도의 각 정부라고 협의했다고 한다.우크라이나 정세의 악화를 받아 러시아산 가스에 의존하는 유럽의 분산 조달을 지원한다.
미 브룸바그 통신이 전했다.미 정부는 LNG 생산국의 카타르나 이집트, 나이지리아, 리비아와 증산이나 유럽용의 수출 증가에 대해 협의했지만, 장기 계약으로 구입하는 기업의 LNG에 대해서는 동의가 없으면 수출지를 유럽으로 변경할 수 없다.
LNG의 수입량은 국별로 1위에서 4위까지 중국, 일본, 한국, 인도가 랭크 인 한다.LNG의 산지나 조달 시기를 변경하는 「스왑(swap) 거래」도 의제에 오르고 있는 것 같다.중국과는 초보적인 협의에 머무르고 있다고도 보도되었다.

The Biden administration and European allies are searching the world for surplus natural gas to send to Europe in the event conflict erupts over Ukraine, including approaching China about its supplies, according to people familiar with the matter.
Talks with China have been limited and havent yet resulted in any agreement, two of the people said. U.S. and European officials have also spoken to officials in Japan, South Korea and India about diverting supplies of gas to Europe, the people said.
Unlike oil, the global natural gas market has little spare capacity and no producer has said it can extract much more at short notice.
So the Biden team, led by the State Departments senior adviser for energy security, Amos Hochstein, is also approaching gas consumers about forgoing deliveries that could instead be diverted to Europe.
