1. Killer cola"s wordplay encourages drinkers to murder women

This insane advert for "Crazy Cola" features a man being fondled by, and then fighting, what can only be described as human-shaped condoms.

The tagline "soak this boredom" is only one letter away in Russian from translating as "soak this b***h", a slang phrase meaning to kill a woman or person.

After watching this clip, it is clear this was no oversight.

2. Mangy squirrel"s lecture on the evils of alcoholism

This evil-looking rodent, known affectionately in Russia as Hell Squirrel, fronts a government-backed campaign warning of the dangers of drinking.

For much of the advert, he spouts a load of gobbledegook before looking into the camera and warning viewers: "Getting s**t-faced? I"m coming to you".

His name apparently comes from the fact that Russians call the delirium of alcoholism something like "small squirrel", according to BuzzFeed. Click on the cc button for English.

3. Seatbelt safety… unless she"s asking for too much in a divorce settlement

This commercial features a woman who is not wearing a seatbelt in the front passenger seat of a car being driven by her husband.

She declares she is leaving him and then slowly makes him more and more incensed by telling him she is having an affair, is taking their child and that a judge will give her the apartment in the divorce settlement.

According to a translation on YouTube, she then says: "Well?!...Say something!... Don"t you need anything?!"

He replies: "I have everything I need - a seatbelt" before crashing the car on purpose.



4. Near-naked dancers somehow illustrate why these tyres are superior

It"s a tried and test theory not lost on the makers of this advert: Sex sells.

You barely see the tyres for all the scantily women dancing raunchily throughout this minute-long clip.

But hey, the association with their performance and the name of the company is probably all that"s needed for all those petrol heads out there.


5. Naked mannequins, sex dolls and Lenin"s exploding tomb… must be a bank ad

Making finance interesting can be tricky. This advert is certainly eye-catching even if it"s pretty hard to work out what"s going on.

It is accompanied by a song by popular Soviet underground band Kino which, according to BuzzFeed, translates roughly like: "They live in a spider web, and we live in internet. So from now on we will act."

Makes potential customers remember it, at least.


6. Even oddball Skittles adverts are weirder in Russia

Skittles have a reputation for unfathomable commercials, but this one is right up there.

The plot goes something like this: Grizzly bear rolls around in Skittles. Bear scares farmers who arm themselves with pitchforks. Bear gets closer, rolls over all cute and cuddly. Farmers eat the skittles off his body.

Easy.



7. Attack of the 50ft-tongued woman

This advert is Ukrainian, but worthy of inclusion.

Like a chameleon, a envious, sunbathing woman pokes out her extraordinarily long tongue to grab a cheeky lick of a boy"s ice cream just as he is about to tuck in.

Simple and to the point.



8. Woman contemplates relationship with man made out of pressed meat

This is creepy to say the least.

The makers of this advert clearly think that a woman falling for Sausage Man and eating his meaty ear will sell its products.
