Chinese prostitutes were said to constitute a particular threat to the physical and moral development of young white boys.

In San Francisco, a Public Health Committee investigated conditions in Chinatown in 1870 professed shock that boys as young as ten could afford and did regularly use the services of the lowest level of Chinese prostitutes.

샌프란시스코에서는, 1870년의 차이나타운의 상황을 조사했던 한 공중보건위원회가 충격적인 사실을 보고했는데, 겨우 10살밖에 안된 소년들이 중국인 매춘부들로부터 가장 저질스런 서비스를 받을 수 있었고 또 실제로 정기적으로 그 서비스를 받았다는 것이다.
