Mr.copy_saru says Japanese language is inferior because갷
Feb11,2008
Sometimes I have written about a website enjoykorea on which Japanese and Korean can communicate each other on message board through automatic translation. There is a Korean guy whose hadle name is "copy_saru". Saru is a Japanese word that means "monkey", and is used very much often when Korean looks down on Japanese. Anyway, this "copy_saru" is very energetic to insult Japan, especially Japanese Language by making so many threads after another on the message board. Only today, Feburary 11th, he has already posted 21 threads, though todays is not over yet. It is very surprising that there is a guy who can spend so many hours just to insult other country, culture, and language. Yesterday I read a thread made by him in which a Japanese had tried to counter copy_saru"s argument. Since his purpose is just to despise Japanese, what he is saying is always irrational. The thread says "Can you read this chinese chracter "{" without Kana?". Kana is letters to describe pronounciations of Japanese. As he says, there are several ways to pronounce this charactor "{" which means "basis" and, in Japan, means very often a "book". Mr.copy_saru says "You can"t figure out how to read, "hon", "bon", "pon", "moto"! See? This is the limitation of Japanese Language". Actually he uses "Yamato-go" for "Japanese Language" instead of "Nohon-go". It"s believed by Koreans that using "Yamato"can be an insult against Japanese, which most of Japanese don"t care, though. It"s true that there are pronounciations those "hon", "bon", "pon", "moto" for the charactor "{". But it is not correct to say one could not tell the pronounciation. When you use "{" alone, it should always be "hon" which means "a book". When the charactor is used as unit to count stick-like long shaped thing, pronounciation varies; "덇{(ippon)", "볫{(ni-hon)", "랳{(san-bon)", "럏{(yon-hon)", "뚙{(go-hon)", "쁛{(roppon)", so on (each mean one, two, three, four, five, six sticks). But it is very easy to distinguish these for native Japanese speakers, though I should admit it is difficult for non-native people. At least what Mr.copy_saru is saying is not true about pronounciation of the charactor. And I don"t think it shows the limitations of Japanese language if a Chinese Charactor has many pronounciations. It seems that he knows Japanese well because he knows "뭷뱡" can be both "naka-jima" and "naka-shima"(the latter is very rare, though). But I don"t think that using his knowledge to insult Japanese is right thing to do. There are people in this world, who think they can be greater when they are making a fool of other people, group, region, country, culture, so on. I think we should never use our limited life time to do such things, rather I think friendship, warm heart, cooperation, helping each other can make a big difference and are what we need to do. But at the same time, I should admit that I have to get along with those people in this society. Liking it or not, some certain percentage of people are that kind. I have recently noticed that there is a guy very near me, who thinks like that, like it is okay to look down on other country as much as he wants. It is stressful for me. How do I behave when he proudly says insult against other culture like Mr.copy_saru? P.S. Someone has got No.4000. Thanks for visiting my blog!
