1. 問題の文章
根拠はLloyd deMauseなる人物の文章です。

文章の書き出しにあるように、

1997年のスピーチだそうです。この文章自体は、決して、論文ではありません。
それでは、この文章の根拠は何なのかというと、自分自身が書いた著書と、
"The Journal of Psychohistory"なる雑誌に掲載された論文だそうです。

1991年に掲載された論文中で、「Western observers even today often notice ...」と断言しています。
その根拠は、参考文献156に書いてあるそうです。

日本人の近親相姦が記述されているというp.68-72を読んでみたのですが。。。
日本人の近親相姦の話は一切記述されていません。
該当部は、"Sex: Public and Private"というタイトルの章で、いったいどんな衝撃的なことが書いてあるのか期待していたのですが、実際にどのようなことが書かれているかというと、例としてp.69の最初のパラグラフを引用してみます。
"The penis is called chin-chin in baby talk. Mothers are constantly drawing a child"s attention on it.
`What is that I see? Is it your chin-chin?` `Don"t run around here naked showing your chin-chin.`
`Sit down and cover your chin-chin.` These admonitions are repeated constantly. If a baby pulls up
its kimono, as it often does, the mother will say, `Ara, chin-chin ga deta (Oh! Your chin-chin is out.)`
Yesterday, one of the mothers who was playing a hand-clapping game with her baby made him grab his penis,
an action the kids hardly have to be taught."
田舎のおばちゃんと赤ん坊のやりとりです。これのどこが近親相姦の話？？
それどころか、"These admonitions are repeated constantly"
（訳：こういった戒めは、しきりに繰り返される。）などの様に、
近親相姦のような非倫理的な話ではありません。
"The women of Suye Mura"という本は、「須恵村の女たち」という邦題で日本語訳が
御茶の水書房から出版されています。
アメリカ人の学者夫婦が、熊本県須恵村に滞在した1935-1936年の観察記録です。
Lloyd deMauseなる人物は、1935-1936年の出来事(156a)と1956年に出版された本(156b)を根拠に、
「Western observers even today often notice ...」と1991年に掲載された論文で記述するという
時間感覚すら無茶苦茶な人物です。
まとめ
Lloyd deMauseなる人物の文章は、いい加減な情報を元に論文を作成していました。
つまり捏造です。
余談
"The Journal of Psychohistory"なる雑誌のImpact Factor (IF)を調べてみました。
IFとは、Thomson Reutersがやっている学術論文の指標で、
掲載された論文の引用数の平均値です。
より重要な論文誌は、多くの引用がされるため、高い値となります。
自然科学分野で著名なNature、Scienceといった雑誌のIFは、20-30といった値となります。
それで、"The Journal of Psychohistory"のIFは、0.12だそうです。

人文系の論文誌の事情は知りませんが、自然科学分野の立場からすると、
IF0.12の論文誌など、鼻紙以下です。
