Japan annexed Korea from 1910 to 1945, tried to stamp out its culture, performed secret military experiments that are denied to this day, severely punished anyone who tried to deny Japanese rule, etc. etc. Japan and World War 2 are very, very sensitive topics for Korea. Not to mention that the Korean War and the creation of North/South Korea was more or less due to Japan"s occupation. Yes, they"re butthurt, but it"s for a reason.
